Try/CATCH 2023 Committee

The Try/CATCH 2022 committee hopes to encourage and expand the opportunities in Computing Science and Engineering Science available to female high school students. Try/CATCH is organized by a group of students, faculty, and staff from SFU who want to support and promote females in the Applied Sciences.

Kaitlynn is a fourth-year Computer Science and Business student. Aside from school, she enjoys trying new recipes (mostly the eating part), reading, and being active (though it can be pain). She is very excited to see everyone at Try/CATCH this year and hopes to inspire you to join STEM!

Archita is a third-year Computing Science student. She is very grateful to be a part of the WICS team and have the opportunity to lead this wonderful event. Aside from school and WICS, she loves going on runs and enjoys listening to podcasts while cooking her favourite dishes. She is also very passionate about Research, AI, Data Science and Mathematics, and aspires to be a good role model for women entering the field of Computer Science.

Her love for computers began in middle school and the first programming languages she learned were C, C++ and Python. WiCS at SFU

Established in 2002, Women in Computing Science (WiCS) strives to promote and support women in Computing Science, build a strong network of friendly faces for women, and challenge the biases faced by women in Computing Science. WiCS has more than 250 active members. We run programs and hold events all 3 semesters of the year, including a faculty mentor lunch, Fall mentorship program, company tours, technical interview workshops, and many socials.
